On Monday, Alameda County District Attorney Nancy O'Malley announced that she will reopen the investigation into the killing of Grantīy Valerie Edwards For and Associated Press.Pirone was fired for his role and his statements that contradicted video surveillance and other officers' and witnesses' accounts of that night.Family wants charges to be filed against ex-officer Anthony Pirone, who pinned Grant down with a knee to his neck similar to that used in the death of Floyd.Recently, Grant's family called for a reinvestigation into his death that they believe mirrored that of George Floyd who died in police custody in Minneapolis.Mehserle was charged with murder, but a Los Angeles County jury found him guilty only of involuntary manslaughter and he ended up serving 11 months.He was killed by Bay Area Rapid Transit Officer Johannes Mehserle at train station it was one of the first police shootings captured on video by bystanders.
